This coffee shop favourite gets a healthy home makeover featuring antioxidant-rich cocoa and calm-cooling peppermint. You’ll be swapping out your plain-old-cup-of-Jo for this superfood treat all holiday season.

It helps aid digestion and contributes to a healthy gut, which helps with less bloating, better energy, and clear skin. It’s even proven to be as effective as over-the-counter pain meds — goodbye headaches and sore muscles!
Are you a chocolate lover?
Be sure to use a high-quality cocoa powder — because not all chocolate is created equal. Dutch processed cocoa powder is smoother and sweeter, but also more processed than regular cocoa powder. Raw cacao is even less processed and has a more bitter taste. I personally go for the less sweet, more bitter cocoa or cacao powder because I prefer their higher nutrient content (less processed = more nutrient dense) and love knowing that I’m getting all of those beneficial antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties!

Scoop a couple of tablespoons of cocoa powder into your mug before pouring over your espresso, then whisk and add a dash of peppermint. Add your steamed milk as usual, and enjoy. For an extra-special holiday vibe, add whipped coconut cream and a sprinkle of crushed candy cane!
Healthy Peppermint Mocha
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp cacao powder
- 1 -2 shots espresso regular or decaf
- 1/4 tsp peppermint extract
- 1 cup steamed milk I used Earth's Own Naked Oat Milk
- whipped coconut cream optional
- crushed candy cane optional
Instructions
- Scoop 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder into your mug.
- Pour over espresso and whisk until creamy.
- Add 1/4 tsp of peppermint extract and stir.
- Pour over steamed milk.
- Optional: Add whipped coconut cream and a sprinkle of crushed candy cane.
